Vacheron Constantin 1972 Collection

The 1972 Grand Modele Cambre is enduring spell. Unforgettable and unimprovable, its silhouette continues to charm the world.1972

It's familiar to practically every woman - the glance that says it all in a flash: surprise, recognition, admiration, then a fleeting touch of envy. The object of such intense attention has very likely included more than a few Vacheron Constantin 1972 wristwatches.

The design's daring, striking good looks never fail to spark intense debate and desire. Casting its irresistible spell everywhere, this free-spirited Vacheron Constantin creation is back today in a new guise, with a cambered profile that any dancer would envy. At birth, it was an aesthetic gamble-won unreservedly as soon as it appeared. Typical of the latter half of the 20th century, its trim silhouette displayed the perfect proportions and self-assured poise that earned it plaudits over and above its groundbreaking appearance, fascinating connoisseurs and collectors of exceptional designs alike. The 1972 earned a rare "Diplôme du Prestige de la France" award less than a year after its launch in the early nineteen seventies. Updated in 1999, its fascinating asymmetrical geometry continues to attract a worldwide following, fascinated by a design that's as fresh as on the day of its birth. Incorporating the combined taste and talent of Vacheron Constantin's teams of watchmakers and goldsmiths, the 1972 design features a novel, gracefully curved profile that provides even more wrist-hugging comfort while yielding nothing of its originality. Its white gold case now displays 308 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 2.71 carats. Smartly and smoothly set into the case, they frame a choice of two dials with vertical-stroke satinated surface and gleaming dark blue or pale silvery "mirror -finish" Roman numerals. The 1972 Grand Modèle Cambré is also available in solid pink gold, with either a softly satinated, silvery finish and "mirror-finish" numerals or satinated pink with white painted numerals. A pair of short "swordblade" style hands paces the dependable regularity of the Vacheron Constantin calibre 1202 movement within. The 1972 Grand Modèle Cambré features a strap in alligator mississipiensis leather fitted with a classic buckle in 18K gold, with the white gold model's set with 25 diamonds weighing 0.09 carat.
