Vacheron Constantin Egérie design has been honoured by a unanimous vote of the jury of the French trademagazine “La Revue des Montres”, awarding it the jury’s Special Prize in the “Gem-set Jewellery Watch” category. The distinction goes to the diamond pavé white gold model, fitted with Vacheron Constantin’s Calibre 1400 hand-wound mechanical movement bearing the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva emblem. Vacheron Constantin Egerie
The design is a tribute to the Spirit of Womanhood, its smoothly flowing proportions and timeless design expressing exquisite formal harmony.
The Egérie collection is crafted exclusively from 18K yellow or white gold. The case features a transparent back revealing the gleaming beauty of its hand-wound mechanical movement, Vacheron Constantin calibre 1400, particularly its superb detailing and finish. Small baton hands and 18K gold applied hour figures and markers enhance a finely engine-turned dial protected by a cambered sapphire crystal. The crown bears the Maltese cross symbol that has served as the company’s corporate symbol since 1880. The case itself is water-resistant to 30 meters ( ~ 100 feet).
The exceptionally fine 20-jewel movement has a vibration rate of 28,800 v.p.h. and a power reserve of 40 hours. Calibre 1400 also bears the Hallmark of Geneva, a sign of exceptional craftsmanship and quality awarded by the Board of optional watch inspections of Geneva and reserved solely for movements made in Geneva’s leading workshops.
Along with a vast body of professional expertise and experience, turning out a movement of this quality demands a great deal of patient effort, particularly on the part of the seasoned watchmaker in charge of its construction, meticulously fitting and adjusting part after part before regulating the movement’s rate with the deliberate slowness so delicate an operation demands.
The Egérie collection furthermore includes a complete model line whose white or yellow gold cases featuring a choice of gem settings are fitted with Vacheron Constantin’s 1202 quartz movement.
The Egérie’s strap is cut from an original fabric, much like satin in appearance but far more resistant. It is available in a choice of hues: sand-beige, blue-grey, plum or jet black. In matching polished gold or gem-set for the pavé model, its prong-type buckle is itself shaped like half a Maltese cross.
